How To Find The Serial Number On My Nintendo Switch With Pictures

April 12, 2019

If you have recently purchased yourself a Nintendo Switch, I'm sure your aware that it is an incredibly portable little console for the gaming power it holds which can make it easily susceptible to theft or being lost, especially if you're prone to taking it with you when you leave the house. For this reason, it would be extremely worthwhile to take note of its serial number whether you write it down on a piece of paper or take a photo of it, just as long as it can be stored somewhere that is entirely safe and separate from your Nintendo Switch. There are three different ways you can find the serial number for you Nintendo Switch.

The first is located on the physical console itself;

You can find the serial number on the thin bottom of the console, near the input for the AC Adapter. It's also on the bottom of the Switch console itself to the left of the USB port. Granted, it's a sticker and has not been engraved into the Switch. I would recommend taking a picture or writing the number down for safekeeping should anything happen.

An example of what the serial number should look like is "XAW70000000000"

The second is quite straight forward and is located in the Switch's system information;

First, you will need to go to "System Settings" and select "System" and finally select "Serial Information" which is where you will find the serial number for your Nintendo Switch.

The third and final option is to register your Switch to the Switch Parental Companion app.

Your serial number will appear in the Switch Info section when you go to switch consoles on the app. When you initially set up your Nintendo Switch, you can enable Parental Controls from the set-up screen. You can also enable them at any time from System Settings on the Switch console.

  1. Open System Settings from the Home screen on your Nintendo Switch.
  2. Scroll down and select Parental Controls.

  3. Select Parental Controls Settings on the right side of the screen.
  4. Select Use this console.

  5. Select Restriction Level.
  6. Select Teen, Pre-Teen, or Child to create a pre-made setting.
